The aim of the Ionian Contemporary Animation Festival ICONA 2020 is to present the best from the field of animation from all around the world. The festival also aims to preserve and help develop the cultural heritage of animated film, contribute to creation of new films, provide ground for potential international co-productions and encourages dialogue between professionals, filmmakers and the public.

ICONA 2020 is organized and promoted by the Department of Audio & Visual Arts of the Ionian University.
ICONA 2020 will take place exclusively ONLINE from December 4th to December 6th 2020.

The competition programme of ICONA 2020 consists of the following categories:
Category I. Short Films
International Competition of Short Films
Category II. Student Films
International Competition of Student Films

Only films made after January 1st 2019 can enter the competition. Films selected for the competition will be assessed by the festival selection committee. Each participant who submitted a film is subsequently informed about the result.

The jurors give out the following awards:

a) The Award for the Best Short Film comes with a financial prize of 500 EUR.
b) The Award for the Best Student Film comes with a financial prize of 300 EUR.
c) The Audience Award for the Best Short Film
d) The Audience Award for the Best Student Film
e) Two Honorary Distinctions in Category I
f) Two Honorary Distinctions in Category II

Announcement of the competition: 11th September 2020.
Application submission deadline: 15th October 2020.
Notification date: 16th November 2020.
